Scharftees was born out of Kenny's insistence on avoiding waste. Any extra paint he had remaining from the screens he used on his paintings he would immediately apply to the clothes he was either wearing or had laying around the studio. This has been an ongoing practice since the early 90's. Beyond the practice being a symptom of his desire to refrain from waste it soon also became a continued excuse to spread the accessibility of his art as well as the messages/ nuanced meanings found within the finer print of his screen collages.
Cut to 2019 and Scharftees are now more available than ever. That said, they are each One of a Kind ( 1 in the World ) and made through slow fashion, hand picked, hand screened, dyed, and curated on either upcycled tees or fair trade 100% organic cotton. Wearable art for the people.
Our message is also to give back. As a result we make it our responsibility to always donate a percentage of our proceeds to the most pressing issues of the moment.
